For walkers and climbers the region has some
truly unique and exceptional landscapes with constant views of
green valleys, snow-capped mountains, river gorges and sea.
This is Grandes
Randonées country: the famous system of GRs - or
long-distance routes that traverse the Pyrenees. They are marked
by their distinctive
red and white waymarking on stones, trees and on the ground.
They
make for some of the most beautiful walking, on routes
that
criss-cross
the
French and Spanish
border.
Self-guided walks
Canigou offers intermediate
hikes as well as climbing. On its flanks you will find exceptional
views
east
across the Roussillon plain towards the Albères, Perpignan,
the Mediterranean and the Côte
Vermeille.
For more mild walks, try the Corbières
across Cathar country through Peyrepertuse, Puilaurens to Montségur.
We highly recommend that if you are going to
go walking that you obtain a good quality map. Rando Editions produce maps at a scale
of 1:50 000. The 'Top Series' provides more detail at 1: 25 000.
Organised walks and
hikes
During the
Spring and Autumn months, Can Llouquette is used as the base
for organised walking holidays with a company called Outbreak Adventure
Holidays.

Adventure brochure.
